Here we go!

It's been over a month since I was diagnosed with being allergic to wheat. I started getting rid of wheat the first of this year. Have had a couple of bumps in the road , since I gave it up. Like not knowing that there was some form of wheat in something. I hate going to a restaurant sometimes because I have to be the picky one now. But it's for my own good. I went to the allergist last week and they told me I have a slight allergy to soy as well. Well that makes total sense, since I have had reactions and are putting 2 and 2 together. But I must say that I'm starting to feel better and my swelling is slowly going away. I've lost 12 lbs so far! The allergist doesn't think my allergies are that severe, but I think it's enough to effect how I feel and my over all health. I guess allergist try to stick to the basics when it comes to allergies but I believe that everyone is different and we all react in different ways. On Sunday I tried ordering a lemon martini, and told the waitress that i'm allergic to wheat, and if I could order potato vodka in that instead of regular vodka. When I was on my second martini I asked her if she was sure that it was potato vodka. She answered that she checked with the bartender and they said the vodka they use is gluten free. I started feeling flush and my cheeks started feeling flush. Then I started to develop blisters on my tongue. I was wondering why I felt like that. I went to the company website and looked up the vodka they put in it. It was in fact made from fermented wheat!!! No wonder I felt like that!!! I don't know if that lady understands the severity of allergies! I really need to call them and let them know what happened. Next time it could be someone who has worst allergies!!
